For the Tree Chainsaw Art carvings challenge. We came across these tree carvings whilst touring Tasmania. 9 trees were planted in memory of the men lost in World War 1, but in 1999 these became a safety hazard and rather than cut them down the soldiers were brought back to life by sculpture.

Amazing sculptures - it's a pity they don't last. We had some here in Wanganui a few years back but were cut down eventually and forgotten - they were native birds and animals.
