About this scrapbook page: |
Black and White challenge July 2014. Cathedral Mountain in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada The Upper Spiral Tunnels are in the part of the mountain to the left. Very few spiral tunnels exist in the world, and this may be the only one still being used - trains go through them daily. The grade was too steep for trains to climb without multiple engines and slave engines pushing, so over 100 years ago, the spiral tunnels were created. Amazing to think of how hard it was to do so long ago!
