Melancholy - a gloomy, pensive state of mind - all too familiar, and I've been feeling melancholic these past couple of weeks so I thought I'd make a page for gentletouches' Melancholy challenge. When in this state, I often gaze out at the sky at night, feeling so much what I cannot see, wondering if it sees me. It's when tears fall before you realize you're crying. It's when you feel closer to death than life. It's when you feel that the evasive answers to life is there, if you can only see beyond Beyond.

The image used as backfround is from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) site, showing NGC2420, a 1 billion-year old open cluster of stars 10,000 light years from our sun. Added pixies (made with Obsidiandawn brushes) to represent the spirit of those red and brown stars. Text is mine, a combination of what I've learned from my research into stars and my personal perspective. Layout and layer effects done with Photoshop CS3.
