For the P challenge.
I found out things I didn't even know about these delightful birds. Especially that we have 13 of the 18 worlds species.
My page gives the Maori names for the 3 Native to NZ.
The other 10 come to NZ to mate and have their young but swim away to other southern areas after that.
Visitors can see these birds in their natural habitat. The Fiordland one is interesting in that it leaves the coast and builds it's burrow in the forests.
