I've always enjoyed good architecture unfortunately NZ is a relatively young country so we don't have magnificent old ruins & stately buildings. Christchurch which is called the garden city does have a few beautiful buildings & one of these is it's art gallery above. With it's walls of glass it is an amazing sight. The statue above is called the chalice & stands in Cathedral square in the heart of Christchurch.

The chalice towers over the square 18 metres high. 2 Metres in diameter at ground level & 8.5 metres at the top. The sculpter was Neil Dawson. Seeing as I have scrapped the art gallery I thought it was appropriate to add a piece of art from the city. The gallery 'Te Puna o Waiwhetu' opened on 10 May, 2003 & cost $47.5 million. Designed by The Buchan Group which are the largest architectural group in Austalia & NZ
