About this scrapbook page: |
In the night of 1st februari 1953 a huge storm came over the west of Europe and cost a lot of damage and lifes. In combination with extreem high tide the dikes in the southwest of the Netherlands broke and the water covered a big part of the southwest. More than 1800 people died and thousands became homeless and lost everything. It`s than that they decided this will never happen again and start planning the Delta works. A plan that took over 40 years to complete.
