About this scrapbook page: |
for the Emotion on Paper:Melancholy challenge. A friend of mine has struggled with alcoholism for many years and has damaged his stomach and liver, but still continues on a downward spiral. He was sober for over 2 years when he suddenly started drinking again. His illness brings me profound sadness so I can only imagine how he feels deep inside.

Thanks everyone for the comments and support for my friend. He is trying to hide it but he has changed so much in the past couple of years, I know he is right back where he was before. He wants to be a social drinker like the AA quote says, and refuses to believe he can't handle it. It's very disheartening.

Oh Karrie. What a powerful, powerful image! I did enlarge it so that I could feel the emotion even more profoundly. I think most of us know people who struggle with this disease. It's so heartwrenching to watch people we care about destroying their lives and the lives of their families. Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job of making your page speak!

This is a very touching page! My x husband is an alcoholic so I think I understand the pain you are going through as his friend, watching from the outside and being unable to do anything to stop the spiral. He is very lucky to have the support of a good friend like you ~ be his strength when he needs it most.
