About this scrapbook page:
This is a photograph of the outdoor washouse,in the ruins of an old cottage where my husband used to live as a child. We visited this place and took the photo in 2007.I wonder how many of us 'older ladies' can remember helping our mothers or grandmothers with the family wash, on a Monday morning. You can see the little doorway at the bottom left, where the fire had to be lit to heat the water. Oh! Those were the days eh!

Yes I have to agree with limeynana I too remember the ole ringer washer, but not anything like that not even in the ole south. But these pic are priceless. Wonderful memory pages

Wow, now that's a trip down memory lane for sure! I've never seen anything like that before but I do remember the wringer washer my grandma had. She was always reminding me to keep my hands away from the rollers. This is a fantastic page!

OMG OMG OMG - Rememberit????? Didn't everybody have one in the brewhouse. also the 'Dolly' and the hand wringer, Our brewhouse had a toilet round the back shared by three families - my job was cutting newspaper into squares and threading on string to hang in the 'lav'
