For the Alphabet Soup - M Challenge. Maine Coon cats - wonderful animals. These photos represent them from kitten-hood to maturity, at which point, males can reach 18 pounds and females, 16 pounds. They're known for their "tuft-y" paws and lynx-like ear tips. The second most popular cat breed in America, they'll do well in any kind of household, love kids, are dog-like in many ways, and have earned the nickname "The Gentle Giant."
