About this scrapbook page: |
The Big Hole in Kimberley, Cape, South Africa. The largest hand-dug hole - 215 m deep with a perimetre of 1,6 km. Diamond mining was suspended on 14 Aug 1914 (95 years ago) after 22.5 million tons of earth was excavated yielding 2722 kg of diamonds. This was an awesome place to visit. My brother and I did a 'trek' of Southern Africa in 2004. DONE FOR THE TREKKIN CHALLENGE. Many thanks for viewing, any comments and votes.
