Anyone who is not familiar with the Anne of Green Gables series will not know the degree of love and tenderness that is being depicted in this scene between the shy Matthew and the little girl who was supposed to be a boy. Matthew has given Anne the puffed sleeved dress she has always longed for ... and she has run to the barn to thank him. One of the most tender scenes in the whole movie. The quote I have used did not actually take place in this scene, but in the scene where Matthew dies in Anne's arms.
