About this scrapbook page: |
The Tasmanian Tiger was found on mainland australia but probably hunted or killed off by Aboriginal people or Dingo's so by the time Europeans settled in Australia it was restricted to Tasmania. May Australians have seen a film clip of the last tasmanian tiger in Hobart Zoo in the late 1930's. It is carniverous and settlers killed it of for attacking sheep.

Created with Scrapbook Flair software. Photo's from the web. This animal is a marsupial and like all marsupials carries its young in a pouch. Some very small areas of western Tasmania hold the slimest of hope and even genetic restoration from cells has been explored. I for one would love for it to be discoverd again, but 80 years is a long time to hide.

Don, The pages in this category have been like a traveler's guide and short history lesson rolled into one for me. Thanks so much for sharing! These are certainly interesting! They are so sleek and slender, yet tall and long. Add the fact that they are/were marsupials!-Just incredible!-LadyLaura

It would be wonderful if they did find them as you say some people of the West Coast of Tassie believe they are still around. But looking at the other side I don't think I would like them to be found. Wonderful pages Don Don
