About this scrapbook page: |
Biltmore Estate was the home of George Washington Vanderbilt, built in 1889 - 1895 near Asheville, NC. It reportedly is 175,000 square feet with 250 rooms. There was a bowling alley, an indoor, heated pool with lighting, refrigeration for storage. An amazing place. We visited in fall, but they say Christmas there is truly beautiful.

The period image is c. 1900 and was found on Wikipedia. The three inset images are my own, and do not do justice to this beautiful home or the botanical gardens.
