In its autumn tint of gold, From the lightning in the sky As it passed me flying by, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.

He wrote this poem when he was 20. He speaks of his childhood and his foster parents. It was not published in his lifetime. And Edgar Allen Poe, wazs not rich. He was not poor, but he was not rich, he struggled a fair bit, but he was very well known. This poem is about his struggle, when he was looking up to heaven his foster father, looked down on him as a demon. It\'s so meaning full and it\'s sad that he never got to see how much this poem means to all oAlone extract written by Edgar Allan poe
