I know exactly what you are saying! I had high speed internet until moving to the country 5 years ago and didn't even think about the difference in high speed & dial up...I may not have moved if this would have crossed my mind! LOL!! Just a few months ago I was able to go to DSL...THANK GOODNESS! If your phone company doesn't offer DSL...keep calling and driving them crazy, and get all of your neighbors to do the same. I complained almost monthly and they came through for all us out here in the middle of nowhere! :) A friend of mine has internet through her cell phone company, and it is a runner up to DSL, you may want to check on that. It has nothing to do with your phone. Your computer will have to have the port to plug in the card (you may be able to purchase an adaptor). Your initial cost will be in the card, but it isn't too bad if you shop around. Best of luck to you!! |

I too can relate! We have only had high speed a little over a year but I could never go back to dial up! Soooo frustrating. I do try to reduce the file size of my pages and the background of my homepage is a small tiled image. If any of mine take too long let me know and I'll try to crunch them farther : ) My oldest pages (before I realized you could upload them outside of SBF) are full size. I did not re-upload them because a couple were in highest views and Scrapbook of the week... but they are the ones on the first couple of pages.
Take Care : ) |

Bless you heart!! I used to be a dial up user and I know exactly what you are talking about. I think you're right though, most people don't realize how slow it can be. I now have cable provider and I just can't stand the thought of ever having to go back to dial up. (Oh how spoiled we can get). |
