I haven't seen the movie, but I have ben to London many times and saw the musical twice.... it's sooooooooooo good.
To sit in one of these old old Theatre watching this FANTASTIC musical is a blast. One of the times was with my husband. He spend 4 days asking me "When are we going to watch this OPERA".... he hated it... but when he first was there ... he was totally AMAZED !!!!
