The journaling reads: "This old house was built in 1875 on my large cotton plantation. I lived in it with my family from 1884 to 1907. The picture of me was made in the living room of the house. Both photos were made around 1900. Virgil Y. Cook" (Virgil Y. Cook was my brother-in-law's grandfather.)
