I was please to see Joce had scrapped the NZ Kiwi as I also chose a NZ bird though this one is not unique to NZ. The NZ Kingfisher or Kotare, as the maori's call it, is also know as the Sacred Kingfisher. These fellows often sit on our fence posts & dive down onto the lawn to catch the worms. One of my favourite birds with their beautiful colours.
