at the base of Mount Rushmore there is a large bolder that has a very large split in it. I took this photo shooting up through the crack. The black on either side of this photo are part of this boulder. I was so surprised that people could get this close to the carvings. For those outside the U.S., this is George Washington, the first president. He is often referred to as the father of our country.
