About this scrapbook page: |
With the popularity of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo I was inspired to make this page. He was self exiled to Guernsey from 1855-1870 leaving a Napoleonic France in turmoil. Les Mis. took him 17 years to write and it was published in 1862 from Guernsey. Top left is Hautes Ville House his Guernsey residence. Top right the view from the top glass room where he did all his writing. Photo of daughter, Sharon, was taken in that room when we visited in 1966.

My Aunt was custodian/caretaker of the House at that time so we visited often. Victor could see France from the top room on a clear day. Collab by JoeG and Annliz - letechavire from DSB My photo of Sharon. PSE7

What a fabulous page. My daughter was in a high school performance and went with her class to NY to see the play. What a special place this must be. Thanks for sharing your photos and information.
