About this scrapbook page: |
The 1940's saw Naval Aviation and Carrier Operations come of age. Fast Carrier Task Forces centered on Essex-class carriers ranged across the Pacific Theater in WWII. The carriers allowed power projection, but were also vulnerable to the Kamikaze strikes, as evidenced by the USS Bunker Hill in the upper left, damaged during operations during the invasion of Okinawa.

Congratulations on your COC award Mike, I still feel this is a very moving tribute to those who served. An excellently scrapped page with poignant use of the butterfly in your pictorial storytelling!
