About this scrapbook page: |
This lovely poem is on a memorial to miners who gave their lives in a mining tragedy. Both sides of a memorial stone in Greymouth, South Island, NZ. The stone is black marble and is like a mirror. This tragedy is not yet over. The 29 bodies are still trapped in the mine while the decision makers debate if and when the mine is safe for retrieval. The poor families just want closure.

A very moving memorial page for this terrible tragedy that has robbed the mining families of their loved ones and how gruelling for them that 16 months later they still await closure. My heart goes out to them and I hope that, soon, the decision will be made to recover the bodies so that they may be laid to rest.
