About this scrapbook page: |
This was supposed to be my 3rd page for the bridge challenge when I saw only 2 pages could be posted. I wanted to upload it anyway. Most will know about this real story from ww2 through the books and film. I know this bridge very well, my youngest sister lives close to there. And my exhusband was captain on a Rhineship for many years and because I was his navigator we lived on the ship as a family. We passed the bridge almost weekly.

When I was stationed in Europe we visited Nijmegen Bridge, but never made it up to see this bridge at Arnhem where the British 1st Airborne were dropped under the command of General Urquhart! Fantastic page for these brave men and a great reminder of their sacrifice during Operation Market-Garden!
