In the south of the Netherlands and in Belgium in olding times, farmers build a kind of small barn beside the big barns and stable where the women could bake bread. They did this partly to avoid that the oven would cost fire. I`m not sure but this looks like an ovenspot ( don`t know the english word for it). In this part of Europe they didn`t build the barns separate from the houses.
