Fortunately the cat hadn’t hurt the little possum. I couldn’t see the mother anywhere and so rang up Badgar Wildlife Rescue and a lady came and took the little one to a place not that far from my home, where he will be hand reared. They apparently have a cage that has a wire going out to the trees, where the possums can come and go. When the possum is old enough and can fend for itself they seem to just go and not come back. She thought the little possum might have been about 3-5 weeks old.
