For the ancient history challenge Page 2 This is the Cherhill White horse in Wiltshire-dates back to 1780 making it the second oldest in Wiltshire, England.There are others: in Oxfordshire there is the white horse of Uffington dating back 2000 years, the Alton Barnes horse created in 1812, and at Westbury the white horse of 1778. The horse shown on my page was cut into the hillside in 1780. Dr Christopher Alsop of Caine shouted the instructions through a megaphone to those marking out the shape.
