My second great grandfather..I was fortunate to find these photos on a Harlan, Kentucky genealogy website. What a wonderful find...I would not have had access to these otherwise. The quality is poor, but I treasure them still...The larger photo is Jefferson in his Union Civil War uniform circa 1863. (20 years old) The small picture is cropped from a group photo taken in 1896. It was reported that his father, Wood, wore his hair braided, spoke in broken English and was half Cherokee Indian.
