About this scrapbook page: |
I live a couple of miles from the National Arboretum. It's a place which pays tribute to all those who have lost their life in conflicts throughout the years. I took a history class on a visit there one day and was speechless and tearful when I saw this sculpture. It's in memory of the mainly very young men who were shot at dawn accused of being cowards when in fact they were traumatised. Each post around the statue represents a life lost. For further info:http://www.clarkehome58.freeserve.co.uk/SADmem.htm

It was sad indeed that so many - and it was many - young men should be branded cowards by their country and have their lives taken. Now we have gone full circle and the same young men in the modern army sue the government for trauma. Strange times indeed at both ends of the scale. Great page.
