Alice Crawford: EDWARDIAN ACTRESS - Alice was born in Australia in 1882 and was to die in 1931.There are some records of early film appearances. Her Husband was of the same age as Alice.Wounded twice in WW1 he was awarded the Military Cross. He later went on to work as a journalist, mostly in areas of conflict. In the Second World War,long after the death of Alice,he was employed on "confidential work" for the British Government.Alice seems to have been eclipsed by the life of her husband. It is a pity

that she is best known for postcards that photographers made. The typical Edwardian actress postcard features a simple printed photographic image of the performer, sometimes in everyday costume, often in stage costume and dramatic pose. The images were invariably black and white though some had colour dye applied to the B&W image during the production process. Kit: “Inner Storm” (Creative Victorian Designs).
