PROVERBS AND/OR IDIOMS
Proverbs and idioms are very interesting though they also make the study of a language more difficult. A PROVERB is a simple and concrete saying, usually a metaphorical sentence, popularly known and repeated which expresses a truth based on common sense or practical experience. An IDIOM is a coloquial metaphor, often a phrase or expression, where the words cannot be taken literally. I find it hard to distinguish between a proverb and an idiom even in my own native tongue. So you may scrap either one. Please read challenge requirements. In the discussion section, I will put some links to lists of proverbs and idioms and their meanings - you may refer to this if you wish.
Challenge Requirements:
1) Put the original proverb or idiom and its meaning plus your alteration (if any). For example "Birds of a feather flock together" altered to "Nerds of a feather flock together." Alterations are aceptable but not required.
2) Put a supporting visual - don't make it an all-text scrap.
3) Only one proverb or idiom per page. You can submit up to 5 scraps but can only win once. Only new pages.
4) You may scrap proverbs or idioms in languages other than English but putting translation in English of the proverb or idiom and its meaning is required.
5) Please EXCLUDE proverbs from the bible since they are often scrapped. Let's widen our perspective and look beyond the familiar.
This could be a very fun, learning challenge so I'm running it longer than I usually do. Note: voting will end a day earlier.
