I was Child No. 3 in a family of 8 children. Was supposed to be a boy. I was born in the days before the fathers were in attendance in the delivery room. The first thing my mother said when she saw my father after delivery was "Merrill, it's ANOTHER girl!" And what a Mommy's Girl I was! I was told that throughout my toddlerhood, I wanted nothing to do with anyone except my mother. Mom died in 2006 ... but "Mom, I still celebrate YOU on my birthday and thank you for giving me life."
