About this scrapbook page: |
The climb to the top can take between 2 and 4 hours depending on fitness levels...and another 2 to get down again! The views from the top are spectacular, taking in Clew Bay, the Atlantic and several different mountain ranges. Mass is said every half hour in the little Chapel and you can even buy tea and sodas, carried up the mountain in advance by donkeys. BTW, Lots of people make this climb barefoot, as a penance!

Fantastic pages AM, loved taking every step of the way with you and David, in fact would love to do it for real and have a look round myself. Just turn the thermostat up to 30 so I don't freeze and I'll hop on over.

Green hils of Ireland... looks like half it is dead brown grass if the bottom right picture is anything to go by. why would David go all that way when he can stay home and slosh around in his wellies and the rain, must be why they have the saying "mad as an Irishman")

Walk round the chapel at the top in the pouring rain and howling wind, huddled against the wall of the chapel saying your Hail Mary's etc, and then get a phone call on the mobile saying "Are you having a nice holiday". Yes that actually happened!! Great reminder of that day!
