Can't promote the world without promoting your home. Hedland is an industrial town with spenty of sport and some great fishing but keep the swimming for the pool. Apart from that it is a great launching pad, withing three hours are several spectacular National Parks and for the not so energetic you can laze away time in beachside caravan parks or historic towns.
