About this scrapbook page:
This page features a couple of pictures that I have taken at the Sanibel Historical Village and Museum on Sanibel Island. If you ever have a chance to visit the island, it is well worth the trip to the museum to see all of the old restored buildings.

Lovely page, awesome photos. I don't know how teachers did it back then - all the kids and all the grades to teach. Amazing. Though, I don't know how they do it now either. Thanks for sharing a beautiful bit of history. Really great work.

a lovely page and a great flash back to times gone by for a lot of people. my senior school had wooden desks like those even in late 1970's. they had got more modern desks by the time my daughter went there but i think they liked back then they liked their funds in the bank rather than spent on new things in the classrooms. im glad its changed now though!! love your work!! :)

grew up in a place with many small schools, one to three rooms covered our primary school(first seven years) desks were different but still wood topped with inkwell holes and the building was weatherboard and fibro with the same sash windows and kids still go to it today! The dunny is still around too, but only on a few farms.

Oh yes! This looks very familiar. We didn't have a piano and for the life of me I can't remember how the rooms were heated. But the desks and blackboard and outhouse could have been from that school. Thanks for sharing!

This is just like the school my mother went to...They had an open turf fire to heat it and all the kids had to bring two sods of turf to school with them every day. It's still operational but updated...it now has two rooms and an inside lavvie!Love this page!

My school was not a one room school, and our desks we not anything like as fancy, but I do remember the ink wells and writing with a quill pen - seriously I am not joking - I may be old but I'm not that old, we actually still had quill pens in 1956! Great page!!

Reminds me of the one room school that I wasn't permitterd to attend. It was between two districts at the time, however, the bus went through that district! Beautifully done!
