About this scrapbook page: |
Echidna, the other Monotremata - egg laying mammal. Lays an egg in the dirt and 10 days later it hatches and latches on to the mothers milk gland. The mother develops a pouch in the breeding season and the baby stays latched on until a few weeks old. They are born bald, develop hair and later develop spines, would be very uncomfortable in the pouch otherwise.
