Cockatoos can make good pets as they are sociable, intelligent, can easily learn tricks and even talk; they're a bit noisy in fact. They number among the sweetest birds and can live up to 80 years. Our Buddy has a lot of catching up to do as he has only recently began to really trust people - he still distrusts men in general but he likes women and children. I'm posting this in the Animal Welfare challenge.
