Tom was my 1st cousin 3 time removed - his great grandfather and my 3 times great grandmother were siblings. Tom brought about a significant change in baseball by recommending that Jackie Robinson be brought up from the minors breaking the color barrier and bringing exceptionally talented black players into the major leagues. He also discovered baseball great Mickey Mantle among many others.
