I am sorry, but I think this was originally made in Broadway in the 50's, as a production then adapted to film in 1965.
I will withdraw from Challenge, but leave it here anyway.
Doing some research the true Story of the Von Trapp Family was originally from Germany, and the Sound of Music was adapted from this story.
