About this scrapbook page:
With the popularity of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo I was inspired to make this page.
He was self exiled to Guernsey from 1855-1870 leaving a Napoleonic France in turmoil. Les Mis. took him 17 years to write and it was published in 1862 from Guernsey. Top left is Hautes Ville House his Guernsey residence. Top right the view from the top glass room where he did all his writing.
Photo of daughter, Sharon, was taken in that room when we visited in 1966.

Such a great page!!! We(Becky and I) have become Les Mis fans. Saw it first on PBS, and then went and saw it performed in Indianapolis. Loved the movie! I did not know it was written in Guernsey! Cool! (In the American Civil War the work was so popular that soldiers in the Army of Northern Virginia called themselves "Lee's Miserables," after their commander Robert E Lee.
