It's Armistice Day so I'm putting up this tribute to Lt. Gould, whom I was privileged to know for many years.
Unfortunately you can't read this unless it's enlarged so I've transcribed it below.

LIEUTENANT NOEL "BUNNY" GOULD, DFC On 27th December 1943, while 15 Squadron SAAF was based in Gambut near Tobruk, Lieutenant Noel "Bunny" Gould was the Flight Navigator on a Baltimore Bomber which came under attack. The nose cone of the aircraft was blown away and Bunny was badly hit in the right leg.

Although bleeding profusely, and taking the full weight of the wind on his chest, Bunny nevertheless managed to lead the Flight safely back to Base. Lieutenant Gould subsequently lost his leg, but amazingly returned to service in the SAAF and navigated the coastal patrol routes in various "Flying Boats". In March 1944 Lieutenant Gould was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Wow its the first time I've seen this page. Very proud to have had Lt Gould as my dad. After his war years he went on to become a Civil Engineer married & had a son & daughter both living in South Africa. Left huge shoes to fill, trust I'll do you proud dad.
