About this scrapbook page: |
When I visited the Statue of Libety tourists had the option of climbing all the way to the crown. I remember the scary spiral staircase and my legs taking days to recover. Shame it has now been replaced by a virtual camera. It was a fantastic experience!

Brilliant NY page fabulously scrapped. Great pics, in spite of being on rubbery legs!

In fact, the last time I was there (that I remember, could have been there since - actually, I think I have been there since 9-11), it was when she was reopened after refurbishment. I went with my mom and her friend from Detroit and we *started* up the stairs...and turned back down, LOL! It was so hot (July) and crowded and my mom's friend said, nuh uh, not for me, LOL!

There WAS a time you could climb up to the tip of the torch, but they stopped that long ago due to fears that the arm couldn't bear the weight that well. I too have been up to the crown and it was quite the experience. I had thought they were reopening her to the crown but I guess not; since it's local to me, I don't think too many of us pay too much attention. Great page!
