Oaks Day is an annual event, it is the day before the Kentucky Derby and traditionally the day the locals enjoy the races. You cant show up without a hat. This was my first time attending and I was so excited to be able to get a derby hat. A quote from the movie "the greatest race" “I could stay home and be warm and comfortable, but I could not wear a hat.”
