About this scrapbook page: |
Created for Kate's "Lost Something" challenge. You can't tell it very well, but this girl is standing at the edge of a waterbank. I once stood at that same edge myself .... but hope was not really lost ... I just couldn't see it.

How moving....I think we can all relate to this concept....but as you said just because we can't see it doesn't mean all hope is lost....its there, we just have to look inside ourselves. This is truly beautiful Frances!

It really does make a huge difference enlarged, I'm glad I do that, I'd miss so many details if I didn't. So often true about what we think is lost.

djsm says:
The artist's message is very powerful, rather than 'sensitive' - it is clever because at first glance it could just look 'beautiful' - which is clever because all too often people do not recognize the 'black dog' brooding in others.

djsm says:
The river scene, with the heavy rain, and those brooding clouds with smudges of green, turn the landscape into something far more brooding and dangerous - symbolic of one's consciousness in the depths of depression or despair. The fact that she is so so close to the edge makes it even more frightening.

djsm says:
I'm kidding. When you enlarge you can see so much more clearly the girl standing just outside the border of the frame. And because of the layout and the heavy rain falling, though you cannot see her face, you KNOW instinctively what she is thinking.

gypsykate says:
wow!!! so powerful and gorgeous. yes, we might sense that hope is there, somewhat like a spirit, but we're far apart and detached from it, like it has nothing to do with us. "hope is there, but not for me" - this is what i see in your creation. once again, frances, you've so brilliantly scrapped a familiar emotion, another monster finding release - thank you!

Granny Franny says:
I think that losing hope has to be about the most devastating thing a person can lose, this is a very powerful page and so beautifully done, with the dark shadows of despair, and the light of hope that she is searching for!
