Though small in stature Ruth Elizabeth Davis was well known for her feistiness. When she first went to Hollywood, Universal wanted to change her name to Bettina Dawes. She declined & said that she refused going through life with a name that sounded like "Between the Drawers". Her feuds were many, most notable was the long running one with Joan Crawford. She married 4 times (divorcing 3x & 1 died from a fall), & had numorous affairs. She admitted her career always came first.
