According to Philippine Legends, the first woman wasn't plucked from the ribs of the first man, she was born at the same time - both of them emerged from a bamboo that split open. This shows the strong belief in equality between the sexes among Filipinos from earliest times. Other images shown were carefully selected to give an idea of the flavor of the Philippines, particularly rural Philippines. Done for the Asia challenge.
