Mid November I looked out of my kitchen window into my backyard and saw this huge bird in our apple tree. I quickly grabbed my camera and called for my husband who is a great nature lover. We got as close as possible without frightening this beautiful, majestic owl away and took this photo. Looked this owl up on the web and found out it was a barred owl. It was quite an experience since the most unusual birds we have ever had in our back yard were 2 mallards swimming in our pool.
