On the way home from our family reunion in NY in 2000 our van broke down in Stanton Virginia. We had to have someone come get us and then my husband and I went back after our van was fixed to get it. We were able to do some sight seeing on the way home. This is a gorgeous place.

I agree - very beautiful. My boyfriend and I did the same thing - just in Colorado. My truck broke down in a blizzard at 11,000 ft we limped into Durango. We went back this summer to see the what we couldn't in winter. Breakdowns aren't fun but give you a chance to notice something you would normally just drive through.

I remember going there as a child too Betty and it is gorgeous. Love the photos you've taken of it. That was a terrible trip home you had from our reunion, I'm glad you can look back on these photos and not try to blot it out.
