I married a husband from Florida that loved water; so he helped work on this fear and I finally overcame it to the point I can swim a little and love the water! But still a little afraid of the deptness of it! GREAT page and hope you too can overcome this someday!

I too had a fear of water when I was young. I think my Mother instilled this in me. I overcame it when I had children and needed to learn to swim better so I could protect my children in case I needed to when they started swimming. They love the water. I still am cautious and have great respect for the water though.

I'm sorry that you are afraid of water too, I get so much enjoyment from pools and lakes and the ocean, I can't imagine having fear instead of enjoyment being the emotion that those places evoke. But I have lots of things I'm afraid of too, like roaches and big spiders and crazy Hanoi traffic.
