Hi there all.
I'm new to the wold of digital scrapping. I got myself Scrapbook factory deluxe and got stated.
I note that most of you use photoshop but there seem to be 1001 versions! How do I know where to start? I want to learn to use the program but I have no idea wich one I should start with?

Hi Kahlia,

For beginners Photoshop 6 or CS have all functions you need for digital scrapbooking. The latest versions (CS2+CS3) are very expensive and komplex. Photoshop Elements is easy to handle and is also a very good tool for scrapbooking. It is the light version of the real Photoshop.

I don't know if you are using a PS or Mac. But there are free graphic programs for both platforms. Even for Linux.

I have photoshop elements 5.0. I just received it for Christmas. I am very slowly getting the hang of it, just can't figure out how to add text. Can anyone help me? Thanks. Tina

In your toolbar there is a text tool. Select whether you want the text to run vertically or horizontally. Then at the top you can select the font type, size, etc. Click on your project where you want to begin with text and begin typing.

Hi Khalia, I can appreciate how you feel, I started with Scrapbook factory and really love it, I suggest that you use that and scrapbook flair downloads to start, get accustom to using it, then try out The PS Elements 6 free down load for a month, it is not really easy there are lots of little thing that are not told to you.
I know I just bought it and I am having a hard time,
I use the SBFactory and SBFlair most of the time.
All the best

Hi Scrap-diva, I am also thinking of buying Photoshop Elements and it will be great to have an "easy-to-follow-understand tutorial". Thanks a lot!

There is excellent help and tutorial at Adobe.com for Elements and Photshop. I also use a magazine called Phoshop Creative. Has excellent step-by-step tutorials and includes a CD each issue with loads of freebies.

I have been using Scrapbook Factory Deluxe and Scrapbook Flair software for my digiscrapping. I love SFD because it is very easy to use, but what you can do with it is limited of course. I hope to eventually learn how to use the powerful Photoshop software one day, I have been having a serious learning curve with it. I guess the main problem is the LAYERS area with me. Just don't get it yet...but hope to after going through the tutorial. Thank you for the tutorial tip at adobe atree....I am going to try it and see how it goes.

I took the HP class and it went over the basics in great depth! I suggest that any 'beginners' take the FREE tutorial class offered by HP. All you need to do is create a login/password and go to your class! Have fun everyone and happy scrapping!
