I am new to traditional and digital scrapbooking. What is the first piece of advice you would give me to have great pages?

umm I'm not sure, I'm quite new myself.
I think you just need to keep in mind that there's nothing wrong you can do, there's no wrongs in Scrapbooking at all. All pages you make are unique and special. Just go with it and have fun!

Kitty's Mom's Daughter says (when her mom is out of the room, but knowing of this post) that her grandchildren would then ask a billion questions about the pictures that she would not be able to answer.

I'm also too amateur to give an advice. But I think by seeing other people's pages can give us more ideas... after that, try to make our own.. try and try and try.. I'm sure we will make a better pages..

PS. I think have a knowledge of photoshop can be a great advantage.

Scrap your page to make your photograph look beautiful. Find a kit or material that accents the photo, both in style and colors.
Make sure your photo is looking it's best before putting it on a page. If it's too dark, put it in an editing software and lighten it up, If it's too light, darken it a little and add a little contrast. Use the sharpening tool a bit. You can always see the results before saving. If the color is off, fix it. In general look at your picture and make sure it looks as good as it can. Then put it in your layout. There are lots of free editing programs that are great, and there are loads of tutorials on editing photos. Even fixing up scratches, etc, on old vintage photos. Have fun, and know that your page will be like an Heirloom someday!! Have fun!!
